Nicolena Ongm

Nicolena lives in a rented house in Danida.  There are 12 people in the household including her husband, 8 of their own children plus 2 grandchildren whose father died in the war.  Their ages range from 6 to 22.   She came to Jinja in the mid-1980s.  Her husband was working at a steel rolling plant but there was no work and so he went back to Pader District in January 2007 to see if he can make a home there.   None of the children are in school due to no school fees.  Three should be in primary and three should be in secondary school.   She is making beads but nothing else.  They are renting land 4 miles away so she digs to get food for the family.  She is growing maize.
