Rebecca Akidi Rebecca lives with her grandparents, 2 of their children and another grandchild in a rented house in the Jinja area. Her grandparents are originally from the Pader district in northern Uganda until two of their daughters were burned to death in their homes by the rebels ten years ago. They then moved to Jinja. Her grandfather is now too old to work. Her grandmother grows some food for the family and sells bead necklaces. Rebecca is a very good student. She likes all subjects in school and wants to be a nurse. She walks one hour each way to and from school each day because she has no money for a ride. She likes to play netball, and helps her family by cooking cleaning, and carrying water.
