Nicholas Age 4 Nursery (Day) Nicholas lives with his father and mother, three other siblings, plus two children of his uncle who died in a rebel ambush. The family has lived in the Kitgum area for six years. They had to leave their original village near Lira because of the rebels. Two other siblings live with his grandmother so they can help cook for her after school. Nicholas’s father is a driver, and his mother has taken out a small loan to open a produce stand to sell sorghum, maize etc. The family is not part of the World Food Program. Nicholas has chronic pneumonia which is most active in cold seasons when he has to be put on a drip. Neighbors help with his transport to the hospital. Nicholas’s favorite subject is art. His mother says he wants to be a doctor some day. He also likes to draw and play, especially soccer, with his friends.
