Moro Opio Jimmy

Age 19
Seconday 5

Moro Opio lives in a small house in Jinja with his mother, 9 siblings and 2 of his sister’s children.

His father left the family and provides no support.

The family is originally from Koch Corom in Gulu district of northern Uganda and moved here in 1989 because of the war.

His mother earns a small income by selling pancakes, cassava and samosas in the market every day. His family has recently received notice that they will be evicted from their home.

Moro Opio is an above average student who was third in a class of 146 when he was in S-4. He is not presently attending school because of no school fees. His favorite subject is science and he would like to eventually become a doctor or engineer.

He plays soccer with friends, and helps his family by cleaning the compound.

Sponsoring Moro Opio would allow him to return to secondary school so that eventually he can attend Makerere University and become an engineer or doctor.
