Estha is the youngest of 9 children. She lives with her mother and siblings in a rented room in the Masese slum area of Jinja. She attends a government run primary school which is a 15 minute walk from her home.
Her family is originally from the Gulu area in northern Uganda. They moved to Jinja about ten years ago because of the war. Her mother is widowed and earns a small monthly income from reselling fish. Estha has one older brother who is lame.
Estha helps in her home by cooking, and washing clothes. English is her favorite subject in school. When she has any free time, she enjoys playing net ball and playing with friends.
